This page (together with the documents referred to on it) tells you the terms and conditions on which you may make use of our website [zoek.uk] and [hirer.zoek.uk] together with the use of any mobile applications (together “Our Site”), whether as a guest or a registered user, and whether as a job-seeker ("Candidate") or as an organisation advertising job roles on Zoek ("Hirer"). Please read these terms and conditions carefully before you start to use the site. By using our site, you indicate that you accept these terms and conditions and that you agree to abide by them. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, please refrain from using our site.

Information About Us

Our Site is a site operated by Zoek Applications Limited ("We" or “us”). We are registered in England and Wales under company number 07456183 and have our registered office at The Old Shippon, Moseley Hall Farm, Chelford Road, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 8RB. We are a limited company.

Accessing Our Site

Access to our site is permitted on a temporary basis, and We reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service We provide on our site without notice (see below). We will not be liable if for any reason our site is unavailable at any time or for any period. From time to time, We may restrict access to some parts of our site, or our entire site, to users who have registered with us. If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to any third party. We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these terms and conditions. When using our site, you must comply with the provisions of our acceptable use policy. You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to our site. You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access our site through your internet connection are aware of these terms, and that they comply with them.


To use the services available on our site, you must complete the membership registration form. You agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by registration form (“User Data”) and (b) maintain and promptly update the User Data to keep it accurate and current. You agree that We may use your User Data to provide services on our site for which you have expressed interest. All such rights are reserved. You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to material posted on our site. Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of material on our site must always be acknowledged. We aim to update our site regularly, and may change the content at any time. If the need arises, We may suspend access to our site, or close it indefinitely. Any of the material on our site may be out of date at any given time, and We are under no obligation to update such material.

To the extent permitted by law, We, other members of our group of companies and third parties connected to us hereby expressly exclude: All conditions, warranties and other terms which might otherwise be implied by statute, common law or the law of equity. When placing a job advert through our site, you can post an unlimited number of jobs for free. There are a number of optional packages available to enhance your ads; you can learn more about their pricing by visiting our Sign Up.

Uploading Material To Our Site

Whenever you make use of a feature that allows you to upload material to our site, or to make contact with other users of our site, you must comply with the content standards set out in our acceptable use policy. You warrant that any such contribution complies with those standards, and you indemnify us for any breach of that warranty. Any material you upload to our site will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary, and We have the right to use, copy, distribute and disclose to third parties any such material for any purpose. We also have the right to disclose your identity to any third party who is claiming that any material posted or uploaded by you to our site constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights, or of their right to privacy. We will not be responsible, or liable to any third party, for the content or accuracy of any materials posted by you or any other user of our site. We have the right to remove any material or posting you make on our site if, in our opinion, such material does not comply with the content standards set out in our acceptable use policy.

Viruses, Hacking and Other Offences

You must not misuse our site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our site, the server on which our site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our site. You must not attack our site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack. By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and We will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. Jurisdiction and Applicable Law

You may use our site only for lawful purposes. You may not use our site: In any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation. In any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect. For the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way. To send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which does not comply with our content standards. To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).To knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.

Be threatening, abusive or invade another´s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety. Be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person. Be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person. Give the impression that they emanate from us, if this is not the case. Advocate, promote or assist any unlawful act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse.

Suspension and Termination

We will determine, in our discretion, whether there has been a breach of this acceptable use policy through your use of our site. When a breach of this policy has occurred, We may take such action as We deem appropriate. Failure to comply with this acceptable use policy constitutes a material breach of the terms and conditions upon which you are permitted to use our site, and may result in our taking all or any of the following actions: Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our site. Immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any posting or material uploaded by you to our site. Issue of a warning to you. Legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach. Further legal action against you. Disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as We reasonably feel is necessary. We exclude liability for actions taken in response to breaches of this acceptable use policy. The responses described in this policy are not limited, and We may take any other action We reasonably deem appropriate.

We may revise this acceptable use policy at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes We make, as they are legally binding on you. Zoek Applications Limited ("We" or “Zoek”) is a UK job board business that operates online job websites, portals and mobile device applications (“Apps”) to accurately match job seekers (“Candidate”) with job roles advertised by organisations (“Hirer”).

Zoek endeavours to ensure that the information that you submit to us remains private, and that it is used only for the purposes described below. We aim to provide a safe and secure experience for all of our users, both Candidate and Hirer. We make every effort to comply with our obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Additionally, we understand the important of maintaining the confidentiality of all your data and other information stored about you while using Zoek.

This policy (together with our terms and conditions and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data We collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how We will treat it.

For the purposes of application data protection laws (Including the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 – “GDPR”) (“Data Protection Laws”), the data controller is Zoek Applications Limited. We registered in England and Wales under company number 07456183 and have our registered office at The Old Shippon, Moseley Hall Farm, Chelford Road, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 8RB. The third-party employers that we provide your data to may also be data controllers for the purpose of the Data Protection Laws and at that stage use your personal data will be governed by the privacy policy of the individual third party employer.

If you register on Zoek as a Hirer and provide us with personal data, we will process such personal data on the basis that it is necessary to do so to perform the contract you enter with us.

Registration and use of Zoek by a Candidate is free. We will process personal data on the basis set out below as it is in our legitimate interests to do so following your registration.

What Information We Collect From You

We collect personal data about you when you register on our site, zoek.uk, hirer.zoek.uk, on any Apps we may provide (together “Our Site”). We do so to provide you with recruitment services that are available through Zoek.

The personal data that we collect, and process includes your name, email address and telephone number. If you are a Candidate we will also ask for details of your date of birth on our Apps, the kind of work you are looking for and your preferred work location. If you decide to upload a CV, Cover Letter, Personal Statement on the Bio section or other similar documents or information we will keep that information till the Candidate removes the information off Our Site, or for as long as you want to keep your account with Zoek.

Information you give us – Submitted Information: You may give us information about you by filling in forms on Our Site, or by corresponding with us (for example by email). This includes information provided at the time of registering to use Our Site, download our Apps, subscribing to our service, share data via the Apps social media functions, posting material or requesting further services.

We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with Our Site. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them. Details of transactions you carry out through Our Site and of the fulfilment of your orders. Details of your visits to our site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.

Information we collect about you and your device - Each time you use our App we may automatically collect the following information:

Technical information, including the type of device of mobile device you use, a unique device identifier (for example, your device IMEI number, the MAC address of the Device’s wireless network interface, or mobile phone number used by the Device), mobile network information, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile browser you use and time zone setting.

Please do not submit any personal data on Our Site if you do not wish us to collect it.

Uses Made of The Information

By registering on Our Site, it is understood that Candidates are actively soliciting contact from a prospective Hirer about opportunities which match the job seekers’ field of interest. If you are a Candidate, we will therefore make your personal data available to the Hirer who use Our Site to find suitable Candidates for specific roles that they are advertising on Zoek and are seeking to fill. This is actioned when a Candidate applies for a job role advertised on Our Site.

Although the purpose of Zoek is to allow Candidates and Hirers to find each other, Candidates can control the extent to which your personal data is shared with other Hirers on the Candidate “My Account” section on Our Site.

As a Candidate, we use information held about you in the following ways:

To provide you with recruitment services

To process your data when we need to fulfil a contract with you, such as to send your CV to a Hirer when you submit your application on Our Site for a job role

To match you with suitable job roles based on the search you have actioned on Our Site, the preferences you have entered on Our Site when registering, and the ‘Saved Searches’ you create

Facilitate social media sharing functionality

To manage your account

To email you about recruitment services, which include Zoek Job Alerts and emails about career advice and new features on Zoek that can help you with your job search

 To ensure that content from Our Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer, mobile phone or smart device

To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes

To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered between you and Zoek

To allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so

Resolve complaints, and handle requests for data access or rectification

To notify you about changes to our service

We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our registered and non-registered Hirer’s, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 Candidates have clicked on their advertisement on any given day)

As a Hirer, We use information held about you in the following ways:

To provide you with recruitment services

To match you with suitable Candidates from the job advertisements you create and publish on Our Site

If a Candidate has technical problems when submitting their application to your job role on Our Site, we will provide the Candidate with the responsible Hirer’s information, this information will only be the Name and Email Address that has been entered and selected when posting the job advert

To manage your account

To email you about recruitment services, which include Zoek Job Posting offers and emails about new features on Zoek that can help you find the ideal Candidate for your job role/s

To ensure that content from Our Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer, mobile phone or smart device

To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes

To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered between you and Zoek

Resolve complaints, and handle requests for data access or rectification

To allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so

To notify you about changes to our service

We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our registered and non-registered Hirer’s, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our Hirers (for example, we may inform them that 20 Hirers in the Driving industry are receiving X amount of applications from Candidates on any given day)

Our site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, Hirer’s and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites and any services that may be accessible through them have their own privacy policies and that We do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies, or for any personal data that may be collected through these websites or service, such as contact and location data. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites or use these services.

Communications and Email Marketing

If you register on Our Site we will only send you information about Zoek, for example Zoek Job Matches and Notifications, Zoek Job Alerts, marketing emails informing you of new features on Zoek and Zoek Monthly Newsletters if you opt in to receive these communications, this is actioned on Our Site’s registration form. You can also amend your preferences if you wish at any time in the ‘Communications Center’ section of your account.

All Zoek email communications that can be turned on or off at any time on the ‘Communications Center’ section will also have a quick ‘Unsubscribe’ feature at the bottom of the email, again if you do unsubscribe and wish to start receiving certain Zoek communications again you can change your preference in the ‘Communications Center’ section of your account.

All activity made on the ‘Communications Center’ is recorded with your preference and timestamp when the preference is made or amended.

Please note that once you register and have an account with Zoek you will always receive transactional emails in relation to your account, for example Password Reset and Job Application emails. Transactional emails will only be deactivated when an account is deleted.


Cookies are text files placed on your computer or smart device to collect standard internet log and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of Our Site, to compile statistical reports on Our Site activity and to help us make job recommendations that are relevant to you. They also help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service. Some of the cookies we use are essential for the site to operate.

If you register with Zoek or if you continue to use Our Site, you agree to our use of cookies.

Please note that any Hirers may also use cookies, over which we have no control. You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of Our Site. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies as soon you visit our site.

Where We Store Your Personal Data

The data that we collect from you is transferred to, and stored at, a destination inside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of any order, the processing of any payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. If we share your personal data with any third-party service provider in the course of providing you with our services, those third parties are required to process your data in accordance with contracts with comply with the Data Protection Laws.

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site - any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. 

Hirer’s should note we do not store credit card details on Our Site.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006. We may disclose your personal information to third parties: If we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets. If Zoek Applications Limited or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets. If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms and conditions and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Zoek Applications Limited, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

Please note that Zoek reserves the right to delete your account, if any content within an account is considered illegal or offensive.

Your Rights

In accordance with applicable Data Protection Laws, you have the right to access your personal data, the right to rectification, a right to restrict our processing activities of your data and a right of erasure.

The applicable Data Protection Laws gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with that such Data Protection Laws. Any access request may be subject to a fee to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you, and we will notify you of this fee prior to fulfilling any request you make to us.

You can exercise the right at any time by contacting us at myaccount@zoek.uk.

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing on the ‘Communications Preference’ boxes on our registration form. You can also exercise the right at any time by amending your preferences on the ‘Communications Center’ in your account, or by contacting us at myaccount@zoek.uk.  

We want to make sure that your information is accurate and up-to-date and will delete or amend any information that you think is inaccurate. Should you wish to delete you account please either action this on the ‘My Account’ section of your account or email us your recertification or deletion request to myaccount@zoek.uk. Once your request has been received please allow up to 30 days for it to be actioned – you will receive an email from Zoek confirming that your request has been completed.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

Any changes we may make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail.
